Partial Eclipse

OK, so this was supposed to be entitled 'Total Eclipse' but sometimes opportunities for the perfect photograph just pass you by!

Instead, after changing lenses and getting the tripod set up, the image captured was more reminiscent of a crescent moon - but it definitely isn't!

The focus of the image is, in fact, a solar eclipse, whereby the Sun is eclipsed by the passing Moon. A rare occurrence that happened on this occasion in March 2015.

Better luck next time. Only another 75 years since this was taken until the opportunity arises once again in the UK :-(.
